Hyderabad police resorted to two novel steps to solve a murder mystery of a man found brutally hacked to death on July 21.
Municipal scavengers were shocked to find a badly mauled body of a man, aged some 45 years, wrapped in a gunny bag and dumped in the garbage bin in the busy Mozamjahi Market on Sunday. They informed the Abids police, who too were reportedly benumbed by the way he was done to death.
Abids police formed a special team to trace the killers and to identify the victim. The police officers thought to take the help of Unique Domain Authentication Identifier (UDAI) if he had by chance taken an Aadhaar card. If he had, the identification would be easy.
The police sent his fingerprints and other details to the UDAI’s Madhapur centre. This apart, the police have taken another measure. They went around displaying his enlarged picture on a jeep, announcing through loudspeakers, urging people to come up with any information about the man.
This is the first time the police have taken such novel steps in earnest to identify the victim and catch the killers. The body is being kept at Osmania Hospital mortuary for post-mortem and identification.
Abids police said they were hopeful of solving the murder mystery and they would be setting a trend of new methods in solving similar cases.
