Don’t blame media, Congress tells Owaisi
While the flamboyant MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi continues to attract more and more hate speech cases, the PCC general secretary G Niranjan on Monday, ridiculed MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi’s contention that media has distorted the speech of MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.
At Gandhi Bhavan yesterday Niranjan said that the Hyderabad MP was neither defending Akbar’s speech nor condemning it. He said Akbaruddin Owaisi speech was shown live by their mouthpiece 4TV and a report was also published in a daily. Now Asaduddin Owaisi was trying to escape the same by blaming the media.
Media may sometimes distort political statements, but they never spread communal hatred by misquoting speeches made in public meetings, he argued. Asking the MIM president to either accept and defend Akbaruddin’s speech or condemn his views, he said that MIM’s dual policy would not be tolerated by the Muslim community.
