Telangana is not anybody’s property and Naidu has as much right to campaign as any other leader in the State, says an MLA.

TDP leader Gone Hanmanth Rao warned the TJAC to refrain from meaningless attacks on the TDP padayatra. “Telangana is not your ancestral property,” he told T-JAC leader Prof Kodandaram on Monday.

His warning came after the T-protagonists’ demand that the TDP should make its stand clear on Telangana before undertaking padayatra in the region. The TRS and T-JAC are set to block Chandrababu Naidu’s marathon padayatra in the region. However, police intervened and prevented a clash yesterday.

Rao said that Kodandaram was barking up the wrong tree. “He should instead question Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao and Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh as to why they delayed delivering Telangana. What has Naidu to do with Telangana formation?” he asked.

The senior TDP leader said the T-JAC should ask KCR what happened to his promise of the Telangana’s birth by Dussera, Rao suggested. He termed the anti-TDP stance of the TRS illogical and unwarranted.

The TDP leader further said that his party president had made the stand amply clear in his letter to the Union government. “Naidu committed himself to the stand taken during the 2009 Mahanadu and it is stated clearly in the letter to the PM. Naidu made it clear on Monday he had no objection to the formation of Telangana,” he said.
