‘PM should take a clear stand on Telengana’
PM should make an announcement during visit: Dattatreya.
BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya has demanded that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who is in the City today to participate in the ongoing biodiversity’ world conference, to make a clear statement on the Telangana issue, respecting the desire of the people.
The former Union minister addressed an open letter to the PM in this regard. He reminded in the letter that then Union home minister P Chidambaram had made an announcement on September 9, 2009 only after the endorsement of the Congress Working Committee and the PM. But the Centre had deceived the Telangana people by going back on his promise, he said. Dattatreya added that some 1,000 youths had committed suicides after the change.
The BJP leader said that while the Telangana people were fighting for the a sererate state for the last 55 years, the Congress was deceiving them in the name of committees, commissions, GOs and agreements. He also alleged that the Centre had put commissions’ and committees’ reports in the dustbin even though the Telangana sentiment was very strong now.
Dattatreya said that lakhs of people had participated peacefully and expressed their desire. NSS
