A fashion extravaganza of five days, Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013 brought about a whole lot trends to look forward to.

In spite of biggies like Tarun Tahiliani, Rohit Bal, A&T, Ashima-Leena and JJ Valaya giving it a miss the country’s biggest fashion extravaganza — the 20th edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013, which is synonymous with setting the fashion trends in the country was a hit and a treat for the fashion lovers. The show which started on October 6 concluded on Wednesday. This edition had 132 participating designers including Anand Kabra, Manish Malhotra, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Ritu Kumar among others.

Atsu Sekhose’s collection inspired by the culture of northeastern India was featured on the opening day of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week spring/summer. Diana Penty added the much-needed zest to the fashion week when she sashayed down the ramp for Sakshee Pradhan on Day two. NIFT graduate Samant Chauhan had Manoj Bajpayee as his showstopper who walked in a manly brown jacket with gold medallions and beige coloured slim-fit Jodhpuri pants. Another celebrity showstopper was Parineeti Chopra who walked the ramp for designer Manish Malhotra. She looked exquisite in an aubergine and orange ensemble at the designer’s Mijwan fashion show during the week.

Namrata Joshipura’s sophisticated, dramatic collection inspired by Batman stole the show on the third day of the week. Wearing dark eye make-up catwoman-like models walked the ramp through circular wires of light forming a tunnel to showcase the edgy collection which comprised of sheer clothes in colours of black and white. Another highlight of the third was the Kerala inspired creations presented by Rahul Mishra.

The highlight of the fourth day was the intricately structured garments showcased by the young designers. Labels like Kallol Dutta, Anand Bhushan Dutta and “My Village” by Rimzim Dadu were the few who opted for this futuristic approach to their garments.

Hosted by Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI),Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week is Asia’s biggest fashion and trade event showcasing the latest fashion trends to the fashion lovers. The event provides the leading as well as the young designers of the country with a platform to showcase their talent by bringing their exquisite collection to domestic and international buyers, media, and fashion experts.
