They say rules are meant to be broken. But what if the violators happen to be the ones who make them? The first day of the AP Assembly Session witnessed one such rule violation. The directives of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and chief secretary Minnie Mathew to curb wastage of power were openly flouted by the officials of the AP Assembly.

The specific instructions to avoid air conditioners (AC) in all government offices were not at all implemented. The officials kept the lights turned on even in broad daylight. The lobby too was well-lit. A similar scene was witnessed at the media point and its adjacent room. Even in the canteen, the officials and other staff of the assembly were least bothered to keep the doors open despite the possibility of getting a direct day light and natural air into the canteen. The lights and fans in the canteen were glowing without any genuine need.
