Rosa Lladró, president of the Spanish luxury porcelain company, unveiled a limited edition sculpture —‘Goddess Lakshmi’ at the Lladro Boutique in Punjagutta.

‘Goddess Lakshmi’ is priced at Rs.6.5 lakh and is a part of “The Spirit of India” Collection, which includes other pieces such as Rama Sita, Radha Krishna, Lord Krishna, Sacred Cow, Indian Dance among others. The luxurious attributes of the baroque and enthralling wonders of India are captured in the various pieces of this collection.

“We draw inspiration from various cultures and traditions capturing the essence of it in the work of art. We have a group of artistes and in-house and consultant designers. However, the Spirit of India collection is the reflection of Indian culture. We in Spain also have the Gods like in India and very much understand praying and symbolism,” said Rosa.

Talking about the themes, she said, “We have a huge collection of themes which are global in nature. For instance, a piece which represents mother and child is the symbol of love. Everybody in the world understands it. There is also a special community of people who love this art all around the world and we try to connect them with the best of porcelain sculptures.”

On marketing, she said, “We are not aggressive in the marketing but want people to discover the brand. The products talk about themselves. We will slowly build a larger customer base in the country with wide distribution network.” These sculptures are available from Rs.3,500 (Diya) to Rs.1.15 crore (Queen of the Nile). Lladro has eight boutiques and want to further expand its network along with shop-in-shops.
