After planning to announce support to Telangana, TDP has decided to postpone the official announcement. Pressure from Seemandhra leaders is said to be one reason.
The main opposition the Telugu Desam, which initially planned to announce its decision to extend support to division of the State before the very popular Telangana Liberation Day scheduled to be held on September 17, has postponed its decision.
The main reason behind this seems to be the pressure from Seemandhra leaders of the party on N. Chandrababu Naidu.
These leaders have reportedly told the party president not to be in a haste and asked him to wait for some more time before making an official announcement.
They reasoned that the party would face a lot of problems if it hurried on this issue.
Confirming this, senior leader and MLA G.Jaipal Yadav said, “Yes, the party has postponed its formal announcement to write a second letter to the UPA government extending support for a separate Telangana state. Some of our Seemandhra leaders have asked our party president to talk to some more senior leaders of the party before making his announcement,” he said. Yadav further added that the party president had already convinced many of the senior leaders by highlighting the need to extend support for a separate Telangana and added that there is a need to convince some more leaders from both the regions.
Decision before Padyatra?
The party is mulling over whether to pronounce the decision before the launch of party president Chandrababu Naidu’s Padyatra that will begin on October 2.
“We will make an announcement after the ensuing Assembly session. I think the decision will eventually come after 24th of this month,” Yadav added.
He also put aside the reports that the decision would be taken after Naidu’s Padayatra as has been stated by some party leaders.
