The City is all set to celebrate Vinayaka Chaturthi on September 19. This year a special eco-friendly Ganesha in Hitec City is setting an example.
On the banks of the lake opposite Inorbit mall in Hitec City stands a 75 foot clay Ganesha. The most interesting bit about this Ganesha idol is that it is being constructed by a team of 26 workers from West Bengal. They live in a settlement at the venue behind the construction and spend an average five hours a day in their preparations.
A worker at the site says, “We have been working on this for the last two months. We hope to send a positive message about the use of eco-friendly clay idols through our efforts”.The idol is being constructed with clay and sand brought in from West Bengal.
Workers say that the total project estimate has topped around `45 lakh. But unlike other idols in the City, this one stands out as the best as the venue, the people and the idea behind this idol’s construction go a long way in celebrating the festival and protecting the environment.
