The minister for social welfare says that he has nothing to lose in politics, hence isn’t scared to speak from his heart. The fee reimbursement scheme controversy has made him the most talked about man these days.

There is an old concept: Andhra Pradesh minister for social welfare Pithani Satyanarayana knows more about the texture of fabrics than tricky politicking. This has put him in difficulty many times because he believes in what people say without a second thought.

Pithani at the threshold of his golden age came to politics by accident. He is the first person in his family to enter politics. He had no god father.

His ability to deal with any situation endeared him to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and his Cabinet colleagues.

Satyanarayana has become the most talked about man these days in the wake of the fee reimbursement controversy.

He is heading the cabinet sub-committee created for the purpose. “Whatever I speak, it comes straight from my heart. I speak forthright because I have nothing to lose in politics,” says the minister.

Personal life

He tells Postnoon that he had never wanted to become a politician. It was MP Vijay Kumar Raju who roped him into politics. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Pithani never had any wants. He loves to travel and he has already visited 45 countries. He says the kind of infrastructure they have is really amazing.

Pithani says that his children have no enthusiasm for politics.

The CM often depends on him to do the fire fighting. How does he manage to handle

people? Here is something for the MBA (HR) students. “Whenever I meet a new person, I study him from all angles: his manners, his gestures, his style of presenting a topic. Then I adapt a style that is comfortable for the visitor, be it jovial, serious or even solemn.”

He himself marks his negative trait. “I trust people easily which many say is not a good quality in politics,” he says. An early riser, Pithani has never complained of the lack of time. The secret is to sleep late night and get up early. You will have enough time on your hands.”
