Five Beauty Trends for Fall Winter 2012
When designers display a collection on the runway, it is not just the garments that are to set the trends for the forthcoming season. The styling is of equal importance. These are the hair and make-up trends that made a statement on the runway and can easily be tried at home.
1. Hair Accessories
Adorn your hair with clips, jewels, barrettes and bands to define the shape of the hair this season. Match the colour of metal to the outfits. Fashion aside, this trend conveniently keeps your hair neat and in shape. No flyaway, or incontrollable messiness for the festive season.
2. Bold eyes
It is not the time to be shy in fashion. Wear royal bold colours on clothes and don’t stop just there. Eye make-up is elaborate for the season. That doesn’t mean the trend should only be saved for the expert hands of fashion shows. Wearing one bold colour eye shadow with a mascara and eyeliner will get the runway look at home. If that is too risky, you can channel Stella McCartney show by applying a electric blue mascara on a clean face.
3. Red Lips
A classic make-up trend that keeps making its way in and out of fashion is back again. Matte red lip colour can neatly be applied with a simple lip brush and tried by all skin tones and face shapes. Keep the rest of the make-up pretty basic to maintain an understated look. At Gucci, the lips were in the deepest shade of red that made for a deep and mysterious yet sexy look.
4. Pink Cheeks
That natural tone of flush pink cheeks made a comeback on the runway. Models showcased a natural look on lips and hair and matched that with a pair blushing cheeks. A very feminine nod to the winter season, pink cheeks can be worn for a day or a night look. Wear this make-up with a simple wool print dress and boots during daytime or with a floor length gown in the evening. Expert’s tip to apply the blush is directly on the cheek bones – neither under the eye nor on the cheeks.
5. Sparkle
Having too much sparkle on garments might be passé lately, but that doesn’t mean sparkle doesn’t appear in make-up this season. A clever dusty effect shimmer on the eyelids or nail enamel in glitter were a popular trend at the couture shows in Paris. At Chanel couture show, the nails were applied with silver shade wit a half covered top layer of baby pink. Sparkle is treated in a gentle feminine manner as opposed to the Disco era bold manner.
