Mamchand and Sons, a family-run company, has successfully lifted and shifted 5,000 houses since 1990 and entered thrice on to Limca book of records. This technology is also patented by government of India.
“We not only save the time and money that goes in demolishing and re-constructing the house but also save resources like water, bricks, stone dust. The lifting work will take up to 45 days,” said Rajesh Kumar Chouan, director, Mamchand and Sons.
“We lift the house as per customer’s need. At the maximum, we lifted a building up to 11.3 feet from foundation at Ghatagaon in Gurgaon,” he said.
For instance, a temple in Hisar was shifted to 15 feet because of laying new broad road. It also successfully moved a Jyotiba Puley statue’s direction in Amroha (MP).
Talking about customers, he said, “we get both commercial businesses and residential customers. However, the majority are residents who face the problems with rainwater and drain water entering into the house due to its level.”
First the conditions are variables for shifting are studied. Then the company enters into a court agreement after agreeing on the lifting or shifting.
The cost of lifting and shifting depends on the condition of the building. It can be anywhere between `250 to `300 per sqft with the lifetime warranty. It is recommended to make a plinth beam while the constructing the house to make things easy.
