Reporter’s Diary: Clock, Stock and No Parallel
Clocks have stopped ticking, while everything seems to continue doing its bit. The clocks that symbolised the City’s grand past, have fallen into disuse as people in the City now have modern clocks at home.
The City has a dozen or so old clocks which are either not working or their needles are missing.
There are occasions when the government has shown some interests and made a hurried repair which does not last because those clocks were the products of giant brains and our pea-brained modern clock-mechanics have little idea about them.
With the impending COP-11, the GHMC has plans to repair these clocks, as the delegates visiting the City would otherwise interpret it as the symbol of the City’s unwillingness to move with times. Postnoon hopes it will not be a hack job but something that would restore the former glory of these great clocks.
