Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao’s announcement to observe a Maun Vrat (vow of silence) on Sunday has created a new row in the ruling Congress, which is already trying to cope with its by-elections defeat.

Rao, who is popularly known as VH in party circles, has said that he is holding this vrat demanding to hold a brainstorming session to reform and strengthen the party immediately. “The session is a must to find out the views and opinions of grass root level workers. Without holding the session it is impossible to find out what the party workers are feeling about the party and what they want done to strengthen it,” Rao told Postnoon.

He further said that he did not get any response from the CM about holding the brainstorming session despite writing a letter to him long ago. Rao vowed to continue his agitation till an assurance is given to him.

However, MLAs supporting the CM dashed off a letter to AICC AP in-charge Gulam Nabi Azad to initiate disciplinary action against the senior leader.
