Krsna Bhog, which began as a catering service in 2007, has grown by leaps and bounds with soaring revenues and elite clientele.
Divya G Medar and Gopinath Medar started off Krsna Bhog in 2007 by quitting their jobs at Taj Deccan to offer catering services in the City. In 18 months, they went on to build a first Momo manufacturing facility in the City. The company has grown leaps and bounds with 100 per cent growth in revenues year on year and is supplying momos to many star hotels and also cater to 14 counters (dealerships and Kiosks).
Talking about entrepreurship, Divya said, “We are first generation entrepreneurs and has combined experience of 14 years. The creativity was constrained because of set of rules in the workplace. There was no time for family due to hectic schedule and even the weekly offs were on different days. We decided to quit the jobs to start our own business.
“We used to initially provide catering services with the range of cuisines like Mexican, Mongolian and Japanese. Even though, the business was successful, there was no consistency in the work and used to have lot of free time. In order to utilise the free time in a productive manner and to take the services to the larger section of society, we have started the Momo manufacturing facility in July, 2009. The background research, product sampling and setting up unit took almost eight months. “Most of us love street food. The only concern that we have is about the hygiene. Momo is a north-eastern food, which is not easily available in the City. The idea is to have mass production of the momos under hygienic conditions adding our touch of taste and provide at a reasonable cost. The business had tough time for first six months as people are unaware of momos. We had to educate them by putting up stalls at exhibitions,” says Gopi.
The company is offering these momos at 14 counters in various malls in the City. “Out of these 14 counters, seven are our own Kiosks. We also cater to star hotels. There are also counters at Microsoft, Deloitte, Infosys, ISB and PVR cinemas. We also do home delivery of our frozen momos for those who call us a day in advance.”
The company has invested around `75 lakh over time was able to get a monthly breakeven last November. It is also expecting a complete breakeven in another six months.
