Man held for reneging on marriage promise
Aileshwar was engaged to be married to Vanisha six months ago. He had taken Rs.4 lakh in advance from his fiancé’s father but later refused to marry her. The girl lodged a criminal complaint and he was arrested.
E Aileshwar, 23, lived at Fatehnagar Pitala basti and his father E Sethji run private finance business. Six months ago he met K Vanisha, 21, of Sriram Nagar in LB Nagar area and friendship developed into courtship and the two desired to get married. The families of the two met and agreed. Vanisha’s father, Dayanand, who too runs a private finance agreed to pay certain sum and gold as dowry. The engagement was held and the marriage was fixed this month.
After the engagement ceremony Aileshwar desired to have a car and sought Rs.4 lakh from his prospective father-in-law. Dayanand is reported to have advanced him the sum. He used to visit her home frequently and is alleged to have gained more monetary benefits. Sanatnagar police inspector S Srinivas Rao, who probed the case and arrested Aileshwar, told Postnoon that the youth took undue advantage of the generosity of the girl’s parents, gained monetarily and made pleasure trips to many places.
When time for marriage approached Dayanand enquired the boy of his preparations for the marriage. Aileshwar is said to have expressed his unwillingness to marry Vanisha. After a bout of quarrel, the girl’s father demanded the money back and Aileshwar allegedly refused. Thereupon, the girl and her parents lodged a criminal complaint of cheating and breach of trust against the man. After the initial inquiry, the Sanatnagar police placed him under arrest.
Police said though the father of the boy too is a party to the conspiracy, he was being probed, but has not been arrested so far.
