After trying all sorts of attention grabbing stunts, Madge has now gone and put a gun to her head. But she is not alone, there are several other musicians who take their live stage performances a bit too seriously.

There is a fine line between causing a revolution and being an absolute moron. Some musicians have taken this rebellion a bit too far and become obnoxious with their live stage performances that they have been sued for more reasons than one.

1. Jim Morrison

The legendary frontman of The Doors, Jim Morrison landed in a legal soup after doing one of the first most obscene concerts, on March 1, 1969, in Miami after he turned up drunk on stage and started talking gibberish. When the crowd started expressing displeasure, he flashed his privates and was charged with lewd behaviour.

2. Alice Cooper

Infamous for his freaky concerts, Alice Cooper created history with “The Chicken Incident” at the Toronto Rock ‘n Roll festival on September 13, 1969, when the audience supposedly threw a live chicken onto the stage. The rocker, assuming it would fly, threw it back into the crowd where it was torn to pieces. However, the next day headlines read that Cooper bit off the chicken’s head and drank its blood during the performance.

3. Ozzy Osbourne

The self proclaimed “Prince of Darkness” did the unimaginable on January 20, 1982, in the Des Moines concert of Black Sabbath when he bit off a bats head. In reciprocation to the rocker’s usual practice of throwing pig intestines and calves’ livers, the audience threw a bat. Thinking it was made of rubber, the rocker enthusiastically bit it off. He was rushed to the hospital for rabies shots soon after. The rocker apparently also bit off a dove’s head during a press conference.

4. Marilyn Manson

Known as the “Agent of Satan” because of his distorted looks, Marylin Manson lives up to the image of a demented genius in all his concerts by throwing zip-lock bags containing chocolate chip cookies and cat excreta. He is also famous for filling donkey piñata with cow brains, chicken livers and pig intestines in the pre-94 era in music.

5. Madonna

The queen of pop is known for her bold and provocative performances but things have taken an ugly turn after she flashed her right nipple to a crowd in Istanbul,Turkey on June 7, 2012 and posing as France’s far-right party leader Marine Le Pen with a swastika on her forehead at her Tel Aviv concert in Paris. Earlier the queen of pop had shocked the world with a three way kiss with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the MTV VMA’s in 2003.

  1. The Doors really did set the bar for on-stage antics. Jim influenced my art my entire life with his macabre and surreal lyrics and poetry. You can see my portrait of the Lizard King I created in memoriam recently on the 40th anniversary of his death. It’s on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/07/celebration-of-lizard-king-jim-morrison.html
