In yet another sad story of gender bias, a young man, reportedly depressed at his wife delivering a second daughter hanged himself in his home in Neredmet on Sunday.
B Ratna, the sister-in-law of the deceased, G Kishore Kumar, 27, informed the Neredmet police that Kishore was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his home in Sri Sai Nagar colony under the Cyberabad commissionerate and as far as she knew he was deeply upset at his wife Vijaya delivering a second daughter whereas he was fondly hoping for a son.
Kishore, a native of East Godavari district, had come to the City eight years ago. He was working in a hotel and had married Vijaya six years ago.
Two years back a daughter was born to them and now another baby girl had saddened him, kin said.
It is said, Kishore was worried that he was a poor man and he would not be able to meet the dowry demands when his daughters attain marriageable age. However, sub inspector Nerdetmet M Veersam said no suicide note was found on Kishore. He was alone at home since his wife had gone to her native place for her delivery.
