Villagers back woman abandoned by hubby

‘Padma has taken a bold step’
Villagers of Mominpet strongly condemn the incident which happened with B Padma and her daughters. Padma’s in-laws have political and police support and along with Padma’s husband, B Anantaiah, are enjoying a lavish life. Padma has had a hard time and has taken a bold step. I have known Padma personally for 15 years and she is very polite. She has taken a great step to stage a dharna with her daughters for the past week. We haven’t seen anyone like Padma, who has a problem and decides to do something about it.
Local advocates also haven’t supported Padma. They have taken `15,000 from her brother, V Anand, for fighting the case, then later managed to come to an agreement with Anantaiah and his father, Malkaiah, to lose the court case. Her husband has given two acres to his third wife, Navneeta, but he didn’t give a single paisa to Padma and her daughters.

‘No help from the police’

B Renuka
Mominpet is good but some outsiders came and created problems, like Anantaih and his family. Nowadays, so many atrocities against women happen in this area, but the elders are afraid to intervene and solve the issues. Padma’s case is different because her father-in-law is a former MPTC member of the TDP and has political power, which is why the police didn’t take any action. Her husband had assured the elders that he was on Padma’s side, but later changed his story.
When Padma finished her dharna on July 16, the same night her husband and his family members broke into the house and created a ruckus all night. The police did not take any action. Padma and her daughters managed to escape, but the circle inspector of Mominpet, M Durgaih, allegedly harassed and threatened her.

‘Only her brother is supporting her’
Padma’s husband has put property worth lakhs in the name of his third wife Navneeta but he didn’t give her (Padma) and her daughters anything. Her brother, Anand, is supporting her and her daughters. But after all, he is married and has three daughters of his own. We appeal to the police and the authorities concerned to get justice for Padma and her daughters.

‘We seek justice for Padma and her daughters’
Padma and her daughters staged a dharna in a peaceful manner and she didn’t create andy law and order problem. When we saw her, she and her daughters were sitting in the heat and so we provided them with a tent and gave them food and water. Our demand is justice for Padma and her daughters.
