Blomkamp impresses again
After the success of District 9, director Neill Blomkamp is back with yet another sci-fi film Elysium starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. The film is set on a ravaged and overpopulated Earth and a space station named Elysium where the elite live. An impressive star cast and a director who blew our brains out in his last outing should make this film an interesting watch. Elysium is going to hit the screens on March 1, 2013.
The beginning of the end
Robert Pattinson, Kirsten Stewart owe a lot to Comic Con for their meteoric rise to fame. The Twilight saga has almost come to an end and the film’s team had something special in store for its fans. Tarantino unchains Django
Quentin Tarantino dazzled the audience at Comic-Con when he unveiled an eight-minute footage of his upcoming western film Django Unchained. The film starring Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Di Caprio and Christopher Waltz is about a slave who becomes a bounty hunter and it has already raised quite a few eyebrows over the depiction of slaves and use of ‘N’ words. The film, which releases on December 25, 2012, is brimming with violence, swear words and a whole lot of Tarantino’s style which makes his films so much fun to watch.
Peter Jackson is back again
Peter Jackson is back in his familiar turf with his upcoming fantasy film Hobbit. After the stupendous success of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, expectations on Hobbit are high and Jackson has pushed the bar higher this time by shooting the film at 48 frames per sec instead of the conventional 24 frames per sec. At Comic Con, he spoke in length about the film and also unveiled the Mondo posters of the characters in Hobbit.
Beware : Godzilla is here
Gareth Edwards, who took upon the reins to direct the reboot of Godzilla, made quite a huge splash at Comic-Con with the first trailer of the film. Now that’s something no one anticipated from this franchise.
Marvel is full of surprises
The success of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Avengers has given Marvel Studios the license to go on a rampage in cinemas. No wonder it has planned to expand its universe and bring alive superhero films like Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America : The Winter Soldier on screen over the next couple of years. We can’t wait to see all this.
Superman’s reboot is actually good!
Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan have teamed up to give Superman the ultimate and much needed makeover. The reboot titled Man of Steel is expected to be grimmer and more stylish than any Superman movie made till date. Apparently, the footage of Man of Steel aired during Comic-Con was so good that some fans of Superman cried out of sheer joy. Now, who would have expected that from a Superman’s film?
The Winter is Coming
The epic fantasy HBO series raised the bar even further. After two successful seasons, the producers of the hit TV series have decided to introduce 14 new characters in Season 3. George RR Martin, who wrote the books on which the series is based on, answered several questions on the story, nudity and what’s coming next in the series.
