Eega mania begins
S S Rajamouli’s Eega is expected to take a flying start all over AP and Tamil Nadu. In AP alone, the film is going to release in 1,200 theatres and thanks to the pre-release buzz it has created, almost all the tickets are booked for the weekend in most centres. In Tamil Nadu, PVP Cinemas is planning to release the film in over 200 theatres. We hear that the distributors in TN have already paid `7 crore as advance. Prasad V Potluri, who bought the Tamil rights for Rs.5 crore, has already made profits from the sale of theatrical and satellite rights. What’s caught everyone by surprise is the extent of buzz which the film has generated despite the absence of a big star. A lot is riding on SS Rajamouli’s brand. The film is also being released in a big way in Kerala, Karnataka and rest of India. The big question remains whether the film can reach the sky high expectations.
