Couple who kidnapped 9 children arrested
Lax laws give criminals enough leeway. Here is a story to prove it
This will shock you, if nothing else will. A couple who resorted to kidnapping babies and selling them to childless couples were arrested once, came out on bail and then shifted their operation to two-wheeler lifting.
Recently, the police nabbed the man with four stolen bikes.
Mahboob Khan, 45, a native of Siddulavai in Sircilla (Karimnagar), was arrested by the Shamshabad police this week on charge of stealing bikes. But inspector D Durga Prasad and sub-inspector N Mahesh who had interrogated him was told by the unfazed man that earlier he and his second wife, Reshma Sultana, had kidnapped nine children from the City between 2010 and 2011 and sold them to issueless couples in various states. Each baby, it is said, earned them `1 lakh.
The duo were held in March last for abduction and fortunately, the police could locate and bring back the kids form Maharashtra, Karnataka and different parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Khan told the police that once they lifted a bike they made fake RTA papers with the help of one Ashok in Nawabpet Mandal, RR district. He has apparently good connections with the RTA staff. After Khan was netted by the police, Ashok went absconding.
Khan is a vehicle mechanic and lived in Salahuddin colony of Madannapet. He had also worked in United Arab Emirates in 1992. Police found out that he was an alcoholic but was swift in thoughts and on foot.
