Training institute is a hit

The Traffic Training Institute at Goshamahal is an unseen or unheard aspect of the City police. It is from here that counselling sessions for errant drivers and drunk driving campaigns were brought onto the streets of the City. Such was their level of proficiency during the training, that the institute has been taking in police batches from all over the State.
There are two training institutes in the City, one at Begumpet and the other at Goshamahal. The Begumpet institute handles the Secunderabad division and the Goshamahal institute handles work for areas like Abids, Nampally, Old City etc. In association with the WHO, their much publicised and active Drunk Driving Campaign has cleared the roads of the City from errant and dangerous driving. Furthermore, there has not been one registered case of an accident or death after the “drunk driving” campaign has made its presence felt regularly in the City.
Speaking to Postnoon, RI M Kishtaiah said, “The training period for traffic police lasts one week, which is inclusive of training over traffic drill, operating camera system and even Yoga. I have been teaching here for two-and-a-half years and I am happy with the change that is being seen and felt across the City.”
With its state of the art technology and inspired personnel, the TTI at Goshamahal is the only one of its kind in the State. In the last two weeks, police batches from Nizamabad and Guntur have finished training here.
“The fact that I get to interact with so many people, from teenagers to RTC bus drivers and educate them about the importance of traffic safety is in itself a very satisfying job. In fact, a traffic violator was so moved that he left with tears in his eyes after being counselled about the traffic safety,” says Kishtaiah.
Although the many campaigns of the Traffic Police are yet to find their grip and place with citizens, their work in some aspects has been commendable if not, an unacknowledged facet of the City’s police.
