The wind of Jagan sentiment has swept away the Congress and the TDP with a solitary win for TRS. The rebel YSRC, which had challenged the mighty Congress party on its way to a virtual win with it leading in 15 of the 18 Assembly (two officially declared) seats at the time of going to the press. The Congress had established a convincing lead in Narsapuram and Ramachandrapuram while TRS on its way to victory at Parakal.

The YSRC camp was so erupted since morning that its office on Road No 45 looked like a ‘Kumbh Mela’ where hundreds of people gathered, sloganeered, distributed sweets, splashed one another with colour, and in the melee, the party’s minority leader Rehman who was carried by party supporters on their shoulders opened fire in the air. He fired four rounds. He was placed under arrest later.

“It is a slap on the face for Congress. Kiran should resign,” said YSR Congress Sevadal president Kotimreddy Vinay Reddy. The TDP, which drew zero had nothing much to say. K Dayakar Reddy said the result was not unexpected. “YSRC won due to wave of sympathy.

The Congress camp was silent. Former minister Shankar Rao said, “This is the defeat of the government. This is a defeat of the corrupt ministers. CM is solely responsible for this. It is not a defeat of the Congress.”

BJP party resident Kishan Reddy, said the YSRC played mischief by spreading rumours about BJP tacitly supporting it in Parakal. “That’s why we lost.”

Meanwhile, Jagan’s wife Bharati, sister Sharmila and mother Vijayamma drove to Chanchalguda jail to congratulate him. They carried sweets and prasadam.
