DJ Suketu comes to town and this time he goes behind the console to teach the art of DJing
It’s hard to have missed any of his songs while growing up. With his debut remix album ‘440 volts’ topping the charts across India, fame was not far behind. His songs including Bin Tere Sanam, became an instant favourite with the audience and dominated dance floors across not just India but internationally as well.
With so many new and upcoming DJs or musicians fighting to gain a spot in the industry, does he feel the heat from all the competition? “I have never really looked at my passion for music in that light. For me it was only about making good music and keeping audiences entertained,” he says going on to add that he loves playing in Hyderabad. “In my opinion, the whole of South India is the birthplace for House music. There was a time when Mumbai clubs played only retro music and I had to mix accordingly.
So if I played two English songs in the beginning, I would have to play three Hindi songs just so that the crowd isn’t too unfamiliar. But, now the audience is much smarter, and well educated about what songs are trending,” he explains. He is now coming up with a solo remix album by mid- August and he is also working \on the music of Raaz 2.
