Teens elope, parents in dark
Love is blind, they say, but love is also weird if the latest in this emotional sphere is of any indication.Worried parents of an 18-year-old girl from the City have found to their horror and to their relief that their daughter is not missing but has eloped with a boy one year junior to her. Horror, because of her brazen behaviour; relief because she has not fallen in criminal hands.
The girl, an intermediate student, lived at Brahmanbasti Namallagundu in Secunderabad, was missing since June 2 as per her father Srinivasulu’s complaint with the Chikalguda police. The parents found that she had taken 4 togas of gold, `40, 000 and her scooter with her.
Frantic calls to relatives and friends proved futile. The parents had been pulling their hair in despair when sub-inspector of Chikalguda Ghouse Mohiuddin found out that the girl was in love with a 17-year-old boy, Sai Kumar, of the same school.
They have been seeing each other for a year and could not live apart anymore. But the parents of the girl were totally unaware of this. It is not clear if the boy’s parents are aware of this affair.
Efforts are being made to locate the love birds.Assistant commissioner of police Gopalpuram division PV Muralidhar said that similar cases are on the rise and he attributed this to two factors: mobile phones and TV-cinema which glorify bravados and love-adventures.
“Screen portrayal is just a technical trick but reality and reel life are totally different. The very young do not understand this. Film is a good entertainment but the youth fails to know the difference,” he remarked. Similar is the opinion of Ghouse Mohiuddin. He said police squad has been checking hotels and alerted police stations in pursuit of information about the couple.
