Travel Diaries: Regina Cassandra Actress
What was your last trip?
I had the time of my life recently in Meghalaya. We drove down from Guwahati to Shillong and the landscape was breathtaking.
What was the most memorable moment of your trip?
Everyone is so fair and women have a natural blush on their cheeks. I kept wondering why wasn’t I born there. Having lived in Chennai all my life, it was a such a big contrast. People in Meghalaya are crazy about Teer, which is an ancient custom. We are supposed to remember what we dream about and there are people who interpret these dreams and come up with a number. At the main event, we have to shoot arrows and finally they count the number of arrows which have hit the target and if the last two or one digits match with the number you have bet on, you win an astronomical sum of money. I couldn’t believe that I actually won one such bet.
Apart from that, I tried different types of food and we went on a river hopping spree.
What’s your idea of an ideal trip?
I don’t mind travelling alone and I make friends easily wherever I go. The best part of any trip is the satisfaction I get when I come back home. My trip to Meghalaya was perfect. Everything was so green and beautiful. I could feel the wind on my face. I could smell freedom and I was in tears for sometime. The whole aspect of being there and witnessing something so pure was magical.
One thing which you’ll never forget to carry.
I always ensure that I carry proper clothes which are well-suited for the place I am heading to.
