Rowdy Rathore’s reviews surprise: Rajamouli
The record opening of Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha starrer Rowdy Rathore has ensured that the film will be the latest entrant to the Rs. 100 crore club in Bollywood. The film is a remake of S S Rajamouli’s blockbuster film Vikramarkudu. Despite collecting more than Rs. 48 crore (net) in the first three days of its release, the film was panned by critics for being illogical and too long. However, Prabhu Deva, the director of RR, is undeterred by the reviews and thanked Rajamouli for making a film which had all the essential items required for a mass film. Meanwhile, Rajamouli was quite surprised that Rowdy Rathore was panned by critics and his comments on Twitter led to a huge debate on whether reviews truly reflect a film’s box office potential. “Even vikramarkudu drew a lot of flak from reviewers. I’ve seen many occasions where superhits got average reviews. but this contrast of BB getting a turkey is a point to ponder..(sic),” SS Rajamouli posted on Twitter. The success of Rowdy Rathore has ensured that all eyes will be on Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film Son of Sardar, which is a remake of Rajamouli’s Maryada Ramanna. Analysts believe that if Son of Sardar too goes on to become a blockbuster, Rajamouli’s brand will soar even higher.
