The YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, who had sent the Congress and the TDP into a tizzy, by addressing a letter to the Prime Minister alleging that there was a conspiracy to arrest him, today wrote to the CBI seeking three weeks to appear before the agency in connection with the illegal assets case against him and his companies. The CBI had served him a notice today to appear before it on May 28 in connection with the unlawful assets case, reports said.
As per the letter, Jagan has sought time till June 15 as he is busy campaigning for the upcoming 18 Assembly bypolls. The letter sent through his lawyer detailed how he is caught up in the non-stop electioneering of his party.
Jagan was earlier served a notice by the CBI court to depose before it on May 28.
His letter requested the CBI officials to hold on till June 15. Meanwhile, the Congress leader Botsa Satyanarayana and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu have rubbished Jagan’s claim that they had been instigating the investigating agency to arrest him before elections. Naidu said it was ridiculous and deserved no answer. Botsa too said it had absolutely no basis.
