Another Gayle storm?
Deccan Chargers won their third match this season; a victory that came a little too late but nevertheless.
This is their first victory, other than the matches they won against the Pune Warriors, this season. In their bid to salvage their pride, the Bulls would look to defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore when they both clash on the former’s home turf today.
While Deccan Chargers gain nothing by winning this match, the Challengers have their play-offs’ chances at stake.
RCB put up an amazing display of cricketing skills when they played Delhi Daredevils in their previous match on Thursday.
In a must-win encounter, the Challengers proved what mettle they are made of. Put to bat first, RCB posted a formidable 215.
Demolition man, Chris Gayle, massacred the Delhi bowlers hitting the ball all over the field to remain unbeaten on 128 (off just 62 deliveries). He was well supported by skipper, Virat Kohli, who scored 73.
In reply, the Daredevils looked like they could reach the target but with wickets falling at regular intervals, they fell short by 21 runs.
RCB need to win against the Chargers to keep their hopes of qualifying alive but Chennai would hope otherwise as RCB’s victory would mean ‘curtains down’ for the defending champions.
The Chargers beat Rajasthan Royals on Friday and played party spoilers. Will the Bulls be able to repeat this act and shine in their last encounter, remains to be seen.
