Sir Sean Connery stepped back into the spotlight on Thursday to ring the bell at the New York Stock Exchange. The Bond legend vowed to retire from public appearances in 2011. The move sparked rumours he was suffering ill health, but he returned to centre stage on Thursday when he helped open the Wall Street financial market.
Stock Exchange bosses invited the actor and Professor Louise Anderson, who is the principal of St Andrews university in Connery’s native Scotland. The appearance was to mark the 600th anniversary of the prestigious college, of which Connery is an honorary graduate.
