Kings XI Punjab rose to the occasion when it mattered the most; they defeated Chennai Super Kings in a do or die encounter to keep their hopes of qualifying for the play-offs alive. They are currently placed sixth on the points table.

High on their victory against the Kings from Chennai, Punjab would hope to carry forward their form when they clash with Delhi Daredevils today.

While Delhi have already qualified for the next round, Punjab’s fate hangs in the balance.

Even if they manage to clinch victory against the Daredevils, finding a place among the top four remains a distant dream unless the other teams under perform.

Though Shaun Marsh did not feature among the playing 11, the return of Adam Gilchrist to the team is certainly a morale booster. Not only was he exceptional in the field (taking not less than four catches behind the stumps) but his willow also produced a match winning innings.

Parvinder Awana’s new- found form with the ball in the previous two matches has seen him become an integral part of Punjab’s bowling line-up.

He scalped two wickets against Chennai along with Praveen Kumar and Azhar Mahmood who also claimed two a piece.

Meanwhile, the Daredevils would continue to try out new combinations in the team like they did when they clashed with Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In the match against RCB, skipper Virender Sehwag decided to sit out making way for Unmukt Chand while Morne Morkel was replaced by Andre Russell.

With this being the last match for both the sides, will the Kings be able to hold on to the reins and improve their qualifying chances or will the Daredevils play party-spoilers, remains to be seen.
