The rush hour begins
The mad scramble in the middle of the points table for a place in the play-offs has started and from now on things are only going to get heated up further. Mumbai Indians who are third placed on the points table will look to beat the Royal Challengers today as they meet them on their home turf. Through this victory they get to raise themselves up one notch higher and safer on the points table. Mumbai is expected not to try many changes, as they would love to keep the momentum achieved by the rising to form of Rohit Sharma and Herschelle Gibbs. Till a few days ago, Sharma had to be content living under the shadows of his peers such as Virat Kohli, but now after the blitz against KKR that he led along with Gibbs, he has proved he is a force to be reckoned with. In fact, Gibbs says that when it comes to talent and technique, Rohit is a bit better than Kohli.
Challengers, placed at number five on the points table, will want to win this match. After this one they are to take on table-toppers Delhi Daredevils, and it is only sense that they will want to face the Devils without the weight of a defeat in their previous outing. What gives the Challengers confidence is that they have won three matches in a row, one of them against Mumbai Indians. If Challengers falter at this juncture, they may have to rely on net run-rate to qualify and that’s not a pretty situation.
