Arjun Kapoor comes from an affluent film family, but he seems to have a sound head on his shoulders. Making his bow in Bollywood with Ishaqzaade, the son of filmmaker Boney Kapoor gives credit to Salman Khan for his acting journey and his sculpted body.
“Salman is a brother to me. I look at him in a very emotional way at both the professional and personal levels. Salman bhai is above and beyond a mentor for me,” Arjun said..
Arjun is the son of Boney Kapoor and late Mona Kapoor. Getting a project was not an uphill task for Arjun, but losing weight was a big struggle for the newcomer.
“I was 140 kg and when somebody like him shows faith in you, you take it seriously. I took up this challenge. I travelled with him, worked out with him, lived with him, and ate what he told me to eat. He took me under his wings and it took me four years to lose weight – and losing 50 kg was my struggle,” he added.
Times have changed, says Arjun and adds gone are the days when “fathers used to launch their sons. Now it’s the time to make good films.”
Arjun Kapoor would be seen alongside actress Parineeti Chopra and the film is slated to release on May 11.
