Movie Review: Jannat 2
The film fails on so many levels that you wonder why they made a second installment of the same name
Movie: Jannat 2
Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Randeep Hooda
Directed by: Kunal Deshmukh
Rating: 1.5
Yet another raunchy thriller from the Bhatt camp, Jannat 2 is an utter disappointment if keeping in mind the first part, even though there is no connection to it.
An unoriginal entry, we are introduced to Sonu Dilli (Emraan Hashmi) who is a charming mix of rogue with a handful of street smart which gets him the cash as well as the ladies. But our hero decides to give up his goony ways when he falls in love with Dr Jaanvi Singh Tomar (Esha Gupta). In order to transform his image, he decides to join hands with ACP Pratap Raghuvanshi (Randeep Hooda) who is on a revenge mission since his wife’s death to bust the illegal arms racquet.
It’s Kunal Deshmukh’s second film but looks like he hasn’t learnt from his previous mistakes. There was no real action in the film and it looked like a messy clutter. The dialogues were definitely strong and kept the boat from sinking. Even though the songs have made it to the billboard, I wouldn’t recommend them.
Emraan Hashmi is a really good actor in the league of present day game-changers but Jannat 2 probably won’t fall into his best performances. Then there was Esha Gupta, banal and trying to look only pretty for the camera. She barely looked the part of the doctor. Randeep Hooda however shines in his role as the ACP constantly mouthing foul words and ringing up his landline only to hear his dead wife’s voice on the answering machine.
Not worth wasting your time over this one.
