KINGS, BULLS LOCK HORNS
Late bloomers Deccan Chargers have a date with Chennai Super Kings in the latter’s home ground today. A lot has happened since the two teams met last. DC have started to win matches and Chennai Super Kings are struggling. The latter lost their last three matches to teams which may not be deemed as equals with them. In their last outing against the Kolkata Knight Riders their batting collapsed.
The only two to make decent scores were Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni. Against the Kings XI Punjab, once again their batsmen did not rise to the occasion despite the total to be chased being 156. The Super Kings have chased bigger totals than that, yet against Punjab, they ran out of steam. The costliest buy of this edition Ravindra Jadeja’s lack of form is a concern for Chennai. The man who holds the best bowling figures this season could not do anything substantial either with the bat or ball in recent games.
For the Chargers now’s the time to take revenge for the shocker of a loss suffered at the hands of the Super Kings in their opener. They need to keep this rhythm going, as it will be hard and too late to make a comeback if they mess up at this juncture. It’s a good sign that both Kumar Sangakkara and Cameron White are playing superbly. It may seem ironic that Dale Steyn has fared badly in matches that DC have won. But if they are to win today, DC must do well in every department of the game.
