Infamous burglar nabbed, finally
A notorious burglar, Ibrahim Siddique, has been arrested by officials from the Crime Control Station (CCS). Also recovered during his arrest was nearly two kilogrammes of gold. This is the first time in the CCS’s history that the Automobile Team, headed by inspector M Ravinder Reddy, and comprising sub-inspector Mohd Amjad and his team, has recovered stolen gold ornaments.
Ibrahim has been wanted by City police since 2004, and the police claim he has been involved in over 60 cases of burglary in Punjagutta and SR Nagar. His criminal file dates all the way back to 1985.
The 48-year-old never stayed in one place for long and has popped up in cities from Mumbai to Gulbarga, often travelling with his mistress Nirmala, 55. He had been in the City for a few months before his arrest. In school Ibrahim was bullied for the poverty in which his family lived. It is alleged he took to a life of crime to alleviate himself from the embarrassment of his youth. Ibrahim selects homess to burgle during the day and then breaks into them at night (always when the owners are away).
Ibrahim met Nirmala in Mumbai. She was being harassed by her husband and Ibrahim took her in, said inspector Reddy. The rest, as they say, is history.Ibrahim was arrested in 2004 by the Nellore police and was sent to jail for a few months before he was released on bail. He also took in Nirmala’s two children from her earlier marriage, and helped arranged their marriages.
