Located in the heart of the City, Moazam Jahi market is one of the oldest markets in the City. Established during the times of the Nizams, this market named after the last Nizam’s son has stood tall for about 70 years now.
The market is not only famous for fruits but also for ice cream. The ice cream parlour called ‘Famous Ice Cream’ has been around for a couple of decades now and sells a variety of hand-made fruit ice creams at astonishingly cheap rates. The day here starts off at about 9am.
During the day, it’s a fairly busy area. Merchants come to sell their products which mostly consists of raw food material. The area faces heavy traffic in the evenings.
One thing that stands out in Moazam Jahi market is the beautiful architecture. Unlike other markets in the City, this place promises a very good experience while shopping as it is very neat and gives you the feel of the olden days. Evenings offer a pleasant sight as the entire place lights up and is flooded with families who are out to have a good time.
During the month of Ramzan, the market lights up like a newlywed bride. It is decorated, and full of people who are there to buy fruits to break their fast. The traders here make maximum profit during that month.
All in all, this market stands as a symbol of the rich architecture and heritage of the time of the Nizams, and is a must visit spot for anyone who is in Hyderabad.
