Three ministers inducted into State Cabinet
HYDERABAD: In a bid to do some balancing act, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy inducted three legislators – N Utham Kumar Reddy, G Prasad Kumar and Kondru Murali Mohan – into the State Cabinet, taking the strength of council of ministers to 41.
Governor ESL Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy on them. Induction of Kondru Murali Mohan from north coastal Andhra region surprised everyone, as the number of ministers from Srikakulam district went up to three – Dharmana Prasada Rao and Satrucherla Vijayarama Raju represent the district already.
In fact, Murali Mohan is already a Government whip in the State Assembly which is of the rank of minister of State. Why this promotion now?
While it is speculated that Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s name was doing the rounds initially from Khammam district as a replacement to P Shanker Rao, who was sacked, Vikarabad MLA G Prasad Kumar came up as a surprise choice in the SC quota.
Elevation of N Utham Kumar Reddy from Nalgonda district wasn’t quite surprising as his name figures every time there is a Cabinet shuffle. Resignation of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from the Cabinet caused a vacancy from the district.
But the Chief Minister has not filled the vacancy caused by the resignation of Jupally Krishna Rao from Mahbubnagar district. The Chief Minister also did not fill the vacancy arose out of the resignation by Konda Surekha.
Deputy Chief Minister Damodar C Raja Narsimha and Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy did not attend the swearing-in ceremony, while Prasad Kumar is from Ranga Reddy district.
APCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana, Speaker Nadendla Manohar, Chairman of AP Legislative Council A Chakrapani and several ministers participated in the swearing in.
