Temple burglary goes unchecked in the City. In the sixth reported temple thefts in the last three months in the City, The Vasavi Kanyakaparameshwari Temple in the KPHB colony was looted by burglars last night.
But, this time the burglary took place while the security guard slept on. Sub Inspector V Sudheeer Kumar told Postnoon that after the police issued directives to temples on steps to be taken to avert temple heists, this temple had appointed a security guard but he was found asleep after midnight. The burglary took place in the wee hours and it was found only after the priest Shekhar came to temple around 5 am.
Gold and silver ornaments decorating the deity were stolen. In all 3 tolas of Gold and 25 kilograms of silver had been stolen, police said. Police said the main door to sanctum sanctorum broken. Inside the temple many things were found strewn around. Police suspect inter-state gang. The Kukatpally police are investigating.
