Ramachandriah has been selling makka butta (maize corn) at Tankbund for the last 10 years and is a familiar face to Hyderabadis who frequent the area.

Ramachandriah was a farmer in Mahbubnagar. As drought destroyed his crops and even bore wells failed him, he was forced to bring his family of four daughters and a son to Hyderabad to eke out a living. Since then the family has been living in a rented house in Khairatabad and Ramachandriah has become a fixture at Tankbund.

One of his daughters, Sarswati, has taken leave from school and hostel and is helping him.He has a debt of around `4 lakh. So far he could repay about `2 lakh and is hounded by the private financers.
