President arrives in City

President being received by Vimala Narasimhan

HYDERABAD: President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil arrived at Begumpet Airport on Sunday morning for a two-week winter sojourn. A rousing reception was accorded to the President at the airport by Governor ESL Narasimhan, his wife Vimala, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar C Raja Narasimha, Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, Director-General of Police V Dinesh Reddy and officials of armed forces.

The President would stay in the City at Rashtrapathi Nilayam in Bollarum during her visit. The Rashtrapathi Nilayam was spruced up for the stay of the first citizen of India.

Minister Shanker  Rao created a scene at the airport for not letting him in. However, he was told that he had no permission to get in and the list of invitees to the airport was vetted and approve dby the officials of Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi.

He said he would complain to the Chief Minister and if there was no response, he would take it to Sonia Gandhi.
