HICC saw an evening of food, fun and music at the Master Chef Accor AP 2011 cookery competition
For the past few years our small screen has been dominated by reality shows. Taking a leaf from the same a similiar event was held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre in Novotel. Master Chef Accor AP 2011 was almost like a live two day reality show, where five teams from Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre, Novotel Hyderabad Airport, Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach and Hotel Mercure took part in the best chef competition. The first day saw the elimination of two teams which was followed by three teams who competed yesterday.
The judges for the event were renowned men in this business, such as Chef Jugesh Arora Culinary Management Consultant, Chef Barnidharan Corporate Chef Griffith Laboratories and Rajesh Gopalakrishnan Resident manager NHA. The chief guest for the occasion was Marc Robinson who tasted the dishes prepared by the competitors and admired their culinary skills.
The three teams that competed in the finals representing NHC, HICC and Hotel Mercure, showcased their culinary skills in their creative best. From the Rajasthani Ghewar to the Anar ki Phirni to Quail Pulav the spread was a feast to eyes as well as pallets. Mr. Teju Jose, Resident Manager of NHCC and HICC remarked on the occasion saying, “The competition was conceptualized to challenge our staff to be more creative in our cooking and try out new techniques.”
After much contemplation and judge’s decision, the first runners were the National Hyderabad convention centre who got rewarded with a cash amount of Rs. 25000, a trophy and a gift hamper.
Hotel Mercure stole the show by winning the competition with a cash prize of Rs. 50000 , a trophy and a gift hamper.
Judge Arora who was really impressed the minute detailing of the team throughout the completion shared his views saying, “They provided a complete package nd they took care of even the smallest of things. From starters to the dessert, one could see the precision in their food. They were the underdogs but they managed to prove their calibre even after being the vegetarian hotel and showcasing their best.” he shared.
When asked the winning team if they expected to win, the ecstatic team denied it saying, “We were not expecting to win but this is a major encouragement and opportunity”.
