Year of the bumpy ride
It’s been more than just movies and music albums for our tinsel beauties as 2011 has been a year of baby boom. Postnoon lists some of the yummy mummies

Hilary Duff
Actor, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and author, all of this at just 24. Hilary marriedNHL player Mike Comrie in August 2010 after dating him for three years. The Lizzie Macguire star announced her pregnancy in August 2011 through a social networking site and later declared it is a boy. The couple expects their baby in spring 2012. Duff says that for her, the pregnancy is a new and exciting experience, and she’s enjoying every minute of it. Aggressive cameramen aside, Duff’s life is pretty great right now — and that’s largely down to her expectant bundle of joy.

Kate Hudson
This award winning actress started dating Muse lead singer Matthew Bellamy in spring 2010 and in January 2011 they announced they were expecting a child. Kate got engaged to Matthew in July, a week before she delivered a baby boy, Bingham Hawn Bellamy. Kate was previously married to Chris Robinson for five years before divorcing him in 2009. Kate and Chris have a son, Ryder Russell Robinson who was born in January 2004. Back in 2007 the actress told the People magazine about motherhood, “You realise after you have had children that you’ll never love anything more than your child.”

Jennifer Garner
This daredevil beauty, who is now turning producer, has a lot to look forward to. Married to her second husband and Daredevil co-star Ben Affleck for almost six years now, Garner is expecting a baby in the spring of 2012. The actor couple has already two daughters. This pregnancy seems to be a much more low-key than her previous ones — there are still lots of photos of Jennifer and the girls, but she’s taken it down a notch and they’re not getting photographed on a daily basis at this point. She was previously married to actor Scott Foley for three years before they divorced in 2003.
Penelope Cruz
This Spanish beauty married actor Javier Bardem in 2010 at a private ceremony in the Bahamas after dating him for three years. She gave birth to a baby boy, Leonardo, in January. Penelope had once spoken to Vogue on motherhood saying, “From the first second, you feel so much love. It is a revolutionary experience. That’s the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but at that moment… when you see that face… you are transformed forever.’’
Lara Dutta
Former Miss Universe and Bollywood actor, Lara married Indian tennis player, Mahesh Bhupati in February 2011 after she broke up with long-time friend, model and actor Kelly Dorjee. And just a month after the couple’s marriage, rumours were rife that their relationship had strained, which they denied vehemently. All the rumours were put to rest when the actor came out with the news of her pregnancy in August. Lara has not shied away from the paparazzi and is expected to deliver in January 2012.

Mariah Carey
Known for her record breaking songs, this singing sensation married the hip-hop singer nick Cannon in 2008 after her divorce with music executive Tommy Mottola. With lots of ups and down in her professional and personal life, Mariah shone through every time with her record breaking numbers. After three years of marriage, she gave birth to twins Monroe and Moroccan on April 30, which was incidentally their third wedding anniversary, too. The singer did not let the pregnancy come in the way of her recording and set up a studio in her bedroom for the recording session. Now that’s what we call a hardworking mum.

Jessica Simpson
After four years of marriage to Nick Lachey and dating Dallas cowboys quarterback Tony Romo for two, Jessica began dating NFL player Eric Johnson in May 2010. The couple announced their engagement on November 14, 2010 and after much speculation it was declared on October 31, 2011, that Jessica was having her first baby with Eric. On Halloween the singer chose to highlight her much-publicised baby bump in a dress that showed it off perfectly.
Shilpa Shetty
The lady holding the permanent tag for the perfect hour-glass figure broke millions of hearts when she married businessman Raj Kundra in November 2009. After everyone waited to hear news of a baby for two years, Mrs Kundra finally declared on December 10, 2011 that she was pregnant. Celebrities becoming pregnant, or giving birth this year almost seems like a fashion trend. After this, it will be one bumpy ride that we are sure our celebs won’t mind at all.

Victoria Beckham
The style diva, who shot to fame with her pop group Spice Girls, has been one of the most sought-after celebs from the West. Married to the handsome footballer David Beckham for 12 years now, Posh, as she is also known, added a pretty pink to her blue brood when she gave birth to her daughter Harper in July. Known as an international style icon more than anything else, the diva never let her fashion guard down whenever she was photographed during her pregnancy. The cute baby bump never came in the way of wearing heels despite her troubled back. Baby Harper sure is on the way to following in her famous mother’s footsteps as Harper’s wardrobe never escapes the eyes of fashion critics who have nothing to say but gorgeous.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Closer to home we have Bollywood’s first family’s famous daughter-in-law Aishwarya. Always under the media glare, the Bachchan bahu vanished from the limelight when the family announced her pregnancy. Unfortunately some people were not quite elated with the news as this meant that she leaves her projects in hand. During the initial days, every astrologer worth his salt was predicting the date of birth of the unborn child. There were rumours, which also said that she would be delivering twins. And when November neared people began betting on whether the child would be born on Children’s Day or not. Aishwarya delivered a baby girl on November 16 but beti B is now still the hot topic of discussion, as the family has been unable to zero in on a name for the ‘little one’.
