Hyderabad: The raging controversy over the issue of change of guard in the Greater Hyderabad Corporation (GHMC) has finally come to end. It seems the efforts and warning issued by MIM Floor Leader in AP Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi did its magic.

Mayor B Karthika Reddy has finally announced that she would tender her resignation on Monday following a direction from party high command.

Incidentally, the Mayor’s resignation decision has come after the PCC president made a statement regarding the change of guard and declared that the Congress would pave the way for election of an MIM candidate for the mayor’s post as per the agreement.

With the resignation of the mayor, the process for electing a new mayor will begin and a General Body Meeting (GBM) will be convened by the officials within the next 10 days to approve and confirm the Mayor’s resignation.

According to GHMC Secretary MSS Somaraju, once the Mayor’s resignation is over, Hyderabad district collector will take over the Mayor election process and issue a notification accordingly. He also informed that the new mayor will be elected by the end of this month.
