Designer duo Gauri and Nainika are known to dress up women like a dream. Today they list out the top ten rules of style that they think women should keep in mind while dressing up

Matching might have worked at some point of time but now matching shoes, bag and the rest with your outfit doesn’t do the trick. In fact, it makes you look tacky so avoid matching your entire ensemble.

Too much of everything is bad and it totally kills the look. For example, if you are wearing a sequined dress, then you don’t have to extend it to the shoes and accessories. Limit bling to one item and don’t go over the top.Girls who are slightly busty should avoid wearing plunging necklines; it is overtly obvious and sometimes makes one look vulgar.

When wearing pants whether it is a skinny jeans, formal trousers or boot-cut pants, make sure that the length is appropriate. Pants that are too short look really odd.

It is important to know and understand your body type when dressing up. Sometimes people go wrong with their dressing because of this basic reason. It is good to seek advice from the experts and co-ordinate the lingerie and dress accordingly.

One thing we find really unacceptable and tacky is when people wear transparent straps with off-shoulder dresses and outfits. Go with a strapless bra when you are wearing a strapless outfit. It makes you look classier.

Girls should experiment a lot with dresses and gowns. Women here are so not open to the idea. They are apprehensive about the height and size when they shouldn’t be because, there is a dress for every body type. High heels are important for them and there should be one timeless dress or gown in one’s wardrobe for special occasions.

One doesn’t need to look decked up all the time. It’s not always required to sport the out-of-a-magazine look. Try and be natural and go for a versatile wardrobe where you can mix and match whenever you want.

A lot of Indian women go wrong when it comes to highlighting their hair. Indian girls essentially look Indian so blonde highlights might not work for them. Avoid overdone highlights and keep in mind your skin tone before getting it done.

Last but not the least, don’t declare a logo war! Sometimes the logos and monograms of brands are so visible that it really makes one look tacky.
