Third AC and Sleeper Class passengers to be charged

Hyderabad: To provide more convenient and comfortable service to passengers, the manning and maintenance of the air-conditioned waiting halls on Platform No. 1 and 10 at Secunderabad Railway Station have been outsourced to a private firm to offer ‘Pay and Use’ facility.
Tete Enterprises will handle the contract for maintenance, cleanliness and manning of both these waiting halls.
According to an SCR statement, the waiting halls will have two LCD televisions with DTH cable connections for viewing news and entertainment, two newspapers each in English and Telugu, two magazines each in English and Telugu are provided free of cost in the waiting halls.Besides these, the operator will provide purified ultra-violet treated drinking water, liquid soap at wash basins and ensure cleanliness of the waiting halls and toilets.
Room fresheners are used every hour to ensure there is a pleasant smell in the waiting halls.Passengers holding confirmed First AC and Second AC tickets are exempted from payment of charges.For passengers holding confirmed Third AC and Sle­eper Class tickets, user cha­r­ges are levied. For the first two hours Rs20 is charged per passenger and for every subsequent hour Rs10 is charged.
Railway employees and pass holders with First AC and Second AC class tickets are exempted from payment of charges, while railway employees and pass holders with Third AC and Sleeper Class tickets will have to pay.
